Group chief executive officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Bayo Ojulari, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the growth and long-term sustainability of the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).

Ojulari pledged last week Thursday, during a visit to the NLNG plant on Bonny Island, Rivers State, where he was received by the company’s managing director and CEO, Philip Mshelbila.

He was accompanied by the permanent secretary of the ministry of petroleum resources, Dr Emeka Vitalis; NNPCL’s executive vice president, gas, power and new energy, Olalekan Ogunleye; company secretary and general counsel, Adesua Dozie; chief gas power investment officer, Salihu Jamari, and other senior executives.

Welcoming the delegation, Mshelbila described NNPCL as a dependable shareholder, committed to securing the gas value chain and overcoming operational challenges faced by the LNG producer. He called for deliberate investments to stabilise gas supply, de-risk critical infrastructure, and unlock upstream opportunities.

He said such efforts would sustain growth momentum, strengthen investor confidence, and position Nigeria competitively in the global energy market.

Ojulari, in his remarks, described NLNG as “a beacon of governance, performance, transparency, and sustainability” in the country’s energy sector. He noted that the visit provided an opportunity to connect with the leadership team, review operations, and explore opportunities for continuous improvement, plant availability and enhanced revenue generation.

He also highlighted NNPCL’s plans for a dynamic Gas Master Plan and possible hydrogen collaborations with NLNG as part of Nigeria’s preparation for a net-zero future.

On his part, the permanent secretary, Dr Vitalis, emphasised NLNG’s strategic role in Nigeria’s energy transition and economic stability. He pointed to the Train 7 expansion project as crucial to achieving the country’s export targets and stressed the need for asset integrity and zero emissions across the gas supply chain.

Ojulari and his team toured several key operational facilities, including the main plant complex and the Train 7 construction site.

Mshelbila received them alongside members of NLNG’s leadership team including Nnamdi Anowi, general manager, production; Sophia Horsfall, general manager, external relations and sustainable development; Aka Nwokedi, general counsel; Fatima Adanan, general manager, finance and Ekeinde Ohiwerei, general manager, corporate services.
