AMNI, TotalEnergies Sign $800m Ima Gas FID

L-R: Matthieu Bouyer, Country Chairman and Managing Director TotalEnergies and  AMNI Chairman/CEO, Chief Tunde Afolabi at the FID ceremony in Abuja.

AMNI’s Chairman/CEO, Chief Tunde Afolabi, described the decision as more than an investment approval.

According to the AMNI Chairman, it represented the fulfilment of a commitment and confidence in Nigeria.

Afolabi recalled that in May 2024, he met TotalEnergies Chairman, Patrick Pouyanné, in Houston, where both companies signed the Heads of Terms for the project.

He stated thus: “To me, that handshake meant something more. We gave each other our word. Today, just a little over two years later, that handshake has become an FID.”

Afolabi pointed out that the decision demonstrated that major investments could be developed in Nigeria when companies, government, and other stakeholders worked together.

It was a positive outcome for one of Nigeria’s indigenous oil companies signing FID with an IOC.
