Women in Maritime & Energy Awards open Nominations for its Inaugural Edition

Mediaville Projects Nigeria, a creative communications agency with interest in Maritime & Energy, in partnership with some women stakeholders across the Maritime & Energy industries is gearing up to host the Inaugural edition of the Women in Maritime & Energy (WIME) Awards which is an initiative created to extol the brilliant contributions of Female Professionals, Female CEOs’, Leaders and Industry Players in the Maritime Industry and across the entire value chain of the Energy sector as well as their male counterparts and Organizations who champion and support them.

The Women in Maritime & Energy Awards will serve as a testament that as more women are emerging achievers at higher levels in the Maritime and Energy industries than ever before, it is imperative to celebrate and tell the stories of the advancement and successes recorded as well as the greater value and development women are bringing to both industries by providing their expertise, experience, knowledge, education and talent to enhance business results in the Maritime industry and across the entire value chain of the Energy industry.

“The Maritime & Energy industries in recent times have witnessed the exceptional and significant contribution of women in accelerating business results while making their mark in both industries. Interest in the Awards have been very high and receptive,” Osaze Isesele, Team Lead of the Women in Maritime & Energy Awards, said in a press statement.

Isesele added, “By placing importance on the impact and recognition of the ever-growing achievements of women in the Maritime and Energy industries while celebrating and honoring the women making the greatest and remarkable impacts in both industries, we are supporting the good work to enhance equality, accelerate diversity and promote inclusion in the Maritime and Energy industries in Nigeria and across Africa.

The Award, which is the Inaugural edition of the Women in Maritime & Energy Awards under the theme “Women Leading Advancement for a Sustainable Future,” is scheduled to hold at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, on the 25th of March, 2022.

For some years advocacy efforts have been intensified to strengthen the integration of more women into the Maritime & Energy industries in a bid to bridge gender inequality gaps.

As the advocacy continues, there are glimmers of optimism with the results women have displayed through their exceptional skills, determination and unwavering commitment.

The ceremony, which will have 22 categories under three broad categories, will include the Trailblazer in Energy Award, Trailblazer in Maritime Award, Outstanding Woman in Energy (Upstream International), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Upstream Indigenous), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Midstream), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Downstream), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Oilfield Support Services), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Engineering, Procurement & Construction), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Gas), Outstanding Woman in Renewable Energy.

Further award categories include Outstanding Woman in Energy (Power Generation), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Technical Operations), Outstanding Woman in Energy (QHSE), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Legal), Outstanding Woman in Energy (External Relations/Public Affairs), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Local Content), Outstanding Woman in Energy (Sustainability) Outstanding Woman in Maritime (Law), Outstanding Woman in Maritime (Shipping), Outstanding Woman in Maritime (Port Operations) and Outstanding Woman in Maritime (Transport & Logistics).

Others are Rising Woman in Energy, Rising Woman in Maritime, HeForShe Excellence Award, Diversity & Inclusion Organization Award, Lifetime Achievement Award in Energy, Lifetime Achievement Award in Maritime.

According to a press statement, the Advisory Board of the Women in Maritime & Energy Awards will employ various parameters and criteria in the process of selecting and short-listing the honorees and nominees out of the hundreds of female players in Nigeria and across Africa for the different categories.

Some of these parameters include cross sectorial knowledge and experience, industry prominence, ability to create opportunities for other women and promote diversity, Technological savvy, Innovation, just mention a few

Top government functionaries, distinguished personalities in Maritime & Energy, development, business and financial sectors, as well as members of the diplomatic community will grace the awards ceremony for what promises to be an evening of glamor, and glitz.
