WIEN Plays Vital Role as a Leading Voice for Gender Diversity

Speaking at the Women in Energy Network (WIEN), Annual General Meeting, Chair, BOT Dr. Mrs. Cecilia Aqua-Umoren, said the gathering was to review progress, celebrate strength, resilience and collective brilliance that defines the Network.

Aqua-Umoren stated that the past year has been one of growth, strategic engagement and continued visibility for WIEN across the energy sector.

“Our programmes, partnerships, and advocacy efforts have further cemented our role as a leading voice for gender diversity and inclusion within Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape. For this, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our executives, committee leads, volunteers, and every member who has contributed to these achievements.”

“As we begin today’s proceedings, I invite us to reflect on how far we have come, the barriers we continue to break, and the opportunities ahead of us. The Board of Trustees remains committed to strengthening governance, supporting leadership development, and ensuring that WIEN continues to be a platform where women thrive, lead, and influence sector-wide transformation.”
