Governor Emmanuel Udom has commended on the ongoing reforms of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) gear towards restructuring to transform the company into a commercial viable entity that will provide reliable product supplies within the country.

The Governor played host to the Upstream Directorate led by Group Executive Director (GED) Mr. Adokiye Tombomieye at government house Uyo said the present crop of leadership in the nation’s foremost oil company has shown commitment doing things differently especially by demonstration of transparency in its financial management.

Udom commended the management of NNPC for the bold decision of publishing the company’s financial reports which he described as unprecedented emphasising that such transparent act was important to regaining the confidence of the people.

In his words: “Let me thank you and let me also say a big congratulations for the restructuring. The boldness to do it will also give opportunity to all of you now who are group heads to write your name in history in this country because once you structure and put the strategy and the systems in place that will enable that structure to run. History will never forget any of you.”

He charged the team to remain focus to the current reforms adding that it is something and no matter how being pushed by government or politician, it has to be focused as professionals because of the expectations from the people.

Earlier the NNPC GED Upstream, said the purpose of the two-day retreat in Uyo was to review the upstream directorate performance between January to December 2021.

He hinted that discussion will be focused majorly on how to improve production and increase bottomline for the overall benefits of Nigerians.

According to Tombomieye, “We choose Akwa Ibom as a place we can come to interact and review our performance from January till date. What we do at NNPC is to set a target at each directorate and at the end we give an account to the Federal Government.”

In line with its commitment to efficient service delivery through automation of its processes, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has launched its Central Invoice Processing (CIP) hub.

The centre was launched by the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mr. Umar Ajiya at the NNPC Towers, Abuja.

Speaking at the auspicious event, the CFO said the launch of the CIP was a further demonstration the Mallam Mele Kyari led management commitment for the principles of Transparency, Accountability and Performance Excellence (TAPE) and compliance with global best practices. He described the launch of the CIP as a milestone in the operation of the Finance and Account Directorate adding that the processing of invoices for contractors and job orders will now be hitch free as schedule and timely since the manual transmission of invoice by third parties to end users for payment has been eliminated.

Ajiya said, “This is very important milestone accomplished by the team, a great work and what it does is that it is going to rekindle our operational efficiency in terms of invoice processing time thereby reducing the long gestation period we used to experience in the past. With this, invoices will be received centrally in this place and also in F&A units of all other SBOs.”

Expressing his opinion, the Group General Manager, Treasury, Mr. Adedapo Segun, commended the efforts and drive of top management of the NNPC towards making the CIP hub a reality.

He said all stakeholders especially customers and contractors stand to gain a lot from CIP and call on them to comply with the process for efficient service delivery and prompt payment of bills.

Segun stated clearly that “This is about stepping into the new realities of competitive business and entrenching best practices. The invoice processing are simple.”
