Total Nigeria Plc Commitment to CSR Initiatives in Nigeria

Total Nigeria Plc is the downtream of TotalEnergies, the company changed its name recently to demonstrate its presence in the energy value chain. TotalEnergies has been operating in Nigeria energy space for the past six decades adding to the country’s oil production.

Speaking at a media parley organised for journalists with the theme ‘Youth Entrepreneurship and Education Programme’ the Executive General Manager (EGM) of TotalEnergies, Mrs. Olubunmi Popoola-Mordi, explained that Total Nigeria Plc has been vigorously involved in Corporate Social Responsibities (CSR) with societal approach.

The company’s activities are implemented based on stakeholders relationship management communication with members of the community. There is mutual understanding between Total Nigeria Plc by looking at their needs and areas where as an organisation it can support the community.

In some cases even in communities where Total Nigeria Plc has no presence but the company felt it could offer assistance including places ravaged by pandemic providing general broad based support.

Since products of the company in Nigeria are moved by road transportation, Total Nigeria Plc supports development of an extensive road safety and advertises it.

It is commited as an organisation to safer community with focus on environment.

Popoola-Mordi stated further that Total Nigeria Plc plays greater role in terms of CSR in coatal areas with climate related issues.

Another aspect is on cultural heritage, “one of the things that Total Nigeria Plc realises is that as a nation, there is need to entrench cultural heritage and preservation.”

As part of its CSR, the company is supporting communities in terms of job creation, skills acquisition and more importantly, social involvement for young people to take control of their future. The EGM of TotalEnergies asserted that Total Nigeria Plc also involves in career project, youth empowerment programme, health matters, scholarship scheme, retail and contract dialogue programme, women empowerment, start up the challenge, sponsorship, safety initiatives among others. The Youth Entrepreneurship and Education Programmes have been of immense benefits to many youths across the country. The multinational oil trading company has successful changed and impact many lives through its CSR campaign always keeping the media abreast with its activities which many have attested to as one of the best among the International Oil Companies in Nigeria.
