The sixth edition of Sub Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC), was held in Lagos and hosted by foremost Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN).
Although, as the event suggests, it was an opportunity to showcase the technological aspect of the oil industry. Operators across the continent attended the event as they dissected issues, challenges and proffer solutions in various panel sessions for the oil industry.
The Operational Excellence Award which was presented by Jimmy Mugerwa was won by gas giant, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), while the National Oil Company of the year (NOC), presented by former PETAN Chairman, Emeka Ene, was won by SMH Mauritania.
Oil giant Shell, won the HSE Company of the year and breakthrough NOC of the year was won by UNOC from Uganda.
Independent Company of the Year presented by Philips Obita, was won by ND Western, an indigenous oil company in Nigeria and Local Content Company of the year presented by PETAN Chairman, Nik Odinuwe, was won by INP
The winning with Women Award, presented by Funmi Ogbue, Patricia Simon-Hart and Ibilola Amao, was won by Cany Jobe.
Regulator making great strides was presented by Chinedu Maduakoh and won by ANPG while International Oil Company (IOC) of the year award presented by Elizabeth Rogo was won by Total Energies.
TotalEnergies, a multinational oil company with broad focus in energy value chain made a giant stride with the Egina FPSO. It recently changed its name to depict its broad involvement in the energy sector.
The NOC Executive of the Year which was presented by PETAN Chairman was won by Proscovia Nabbanja.
No doubt, the SAIPEC awards remain a memento in the minds of the oil and gas industry operators in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. Indeed, it was a night of many awards as companies and individuals won prestigious prizes for their outstanding involvement in the energy industry.
