Chairman of the Rotary And Friends action group, Rotarian Hamilton Odum who spoke on behalf of the partners at the end of the one day Health Care Outreach carried out in Kpean community Primary Health Care Center, explained that outreach was organized to foster some of the Areas of focus of Rotary which includes Disease Prevention and Treatment, improving Mother and Child Health, and Community Development and Empowerment.

We have the Pediatricians, Optometrists, Pharmacists and other physicians here to give basic health care to the people here. I’m glad too that there is an existing facility to accommodate this project, which is the community’s almost moribund health center.”

“We want the state and local government to equip this health center will staff and drugs and other facilities so that members of the community can make use of it.”

On his part, former security Adviser to Kpean Community Nke Sunka-Lucky while commending the Rotary Clubs for the joint free health care project, said the massive turnout of members of the community to benefit from the free health care is a signal that the people don’t have access to basic health care. He said the community has never had this good.

President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Seaport Prince Jenewari Eleki said “As a club we decided to partner on this project to create a huge impact in the community as Rotary is known for.

The President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt GRA Ozumonu Gudu in her comments said “as a service-oriented club, we decided to participate in the One-Day Medical Outreach because we believe in taking free medical care to the hinterland where the people that need it most are residents.”
