NNPC TO INCREASE CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION BY 2023

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says it will increase crude oil production to national target at 3millions barrels per day (bpd) and reserves of 40 million barrels before 2023.

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, Mele Kyari made this known while addressing the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Upstream.

Nigeria crude oil production was reported at 1866 bpd in August recording an increase from previous number of 1780 bpd for the month of July.

The corporation was of the view that present reserve of crude oil is 28.2million barrels due to number of intervention ongoing to ensure increase in production of crude oil.

The GMD said “The national target was 3million bpd daily production and 40 million barrels of reserve has not been attained. But what I can assure you Mr. Chairman is that we are very focused, and we know this is possible and we have taken steps to realise this before the end of 2023 which is possible and number of interventions are ongoing including our elaborate intrusion into the frontier basin. As the Chairman is aware, we have just announced oil discovery in the Gongola Basin. And we expect many more to happen including the Anambra platform and some parts of the Benue Trough including the Chad and Bida Basins.”
