NNPC Plans Oil Exploration in Chad Basin

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, made it known that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), will soon commence oil exploration in Chad Basin.

The Minister had a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai and top management of NNPC on how oil exploration activities can begin in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State.  

He said the military is to provide security to oil workers that will be working on the Chad Basin adding that security is paramount for safety.

It will be recalled that oil exploration was done at the Chad Basin in Borno, but due to insecurity it was abruptly ceased due to abduction of oil workers and other related security issues.
