NLC Suspends Nationwide Protest over Subsidy

Owing the Federal Government decision to shelve plan on subsidy removal, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has also suspended its nationwide protest for slated for Thursday and February 2.

The NLC said it took the decision at its National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday morning.

The Congress said the decision to suspend the protest was based on suspension of the proposal to stop subsidy on petrol by the Federal Government.

President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba broke the news at a press conference with journalists in Abuja.

Ayuba said members of the NLC who had been mobilised would be demobilised following the decision to suspend the protest.
