The Chairman, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Rivers State Chapter, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, has lauded the Accord Rivers Gubernatorial candidate Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, describing him as a compassionate and benevolent Philanthropist, whose giant strides in human capacity development have impacted positively on both Rivers people, and particularly the girl children.
Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, said this when she led some members of the Association on a courtesy visit to the Accord Party Gubernatorial candidate in Port Harcourt.
She said the visit was to seek support and partnership with the scribe to seek intervention for the girl child.
Serekara-Nwikhana said, “We appreciate what you have been doing so far in the lives of women and children in the society. We just came to appeal to you to look into what has been a burden of the girl child in the past and substantiate for us.
“We just want you to partner with us in the area of girl child; NAWOJ is a body that engages in advocacy and sensitizing the people. Whatever area you would want us to join you in lending our voice in the development of girls in the society we are very much ready.”
On his part, the standard bearer of Accord Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs called for a collective commitment and dedication to the service of Rivers State, with specific emphasis on devoting quality attention to the girl child development in the state.
He pointed out, that his immediate family, by default he has already been conditioned to pay attention to the needs of the girl child, as he has three girls, whose needs he is obliged to meet, thus making him very aware of the necessities and opportunities they require.
He appreciated the love and vision of NAWOJ for singling him out as the only candidate who has fundamentally committed to meeting the needs of the women and the girl-child in the state, even as he promised a partnership that will ensure that Rivers Children and Women enjoy life in every way possible, as his government will certainly favor the women of the state.
