…NUPRC wins Corporate Partner in Energy Policy Reforms.
The story of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) started with ten men who sat together as professional colleagues to form the association which has evolved into a generational legacy of excellence.
NAPE celebrated its 50th anniversary and the President Johnbosco Uche said the industry reflects professionals that will redefine the future. The 50 years is a call to leadership and innovation.
NAPE gave awards to its members who have done exploit and performed excellently for the oil and gas industry association.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Chief Chamberlain Oyibo, a former Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
The Posthumous Awards were given to Dr. Kingsley Ojor and other dead past presidents of NAPE appreciating the time they served the association.
Golden Jubilee Partner Award for Excellence in Geoscience and Industry Advancement for the Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (NMGS) was given to NMGS members.
NUPRC was honoured with the Corporate Partner in Energy Policy Reforms in recognition of its pivotal contributions to the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and related energy policy reforms.
The award was presented and Mr. Paul Osu, Head of the Lagos Regional Office, received the award on behalf of the Commission Chief Executive, Mr. Gbenga Komolafe.
Other International Oil Companies (IOCs) and independents received awards for outstanding roles in the industry including sponsors of the event.
Pro-ally and other eight sponsors of the event received awards.
Also speaking at the event, Prof. Emmanuel Enu, Chairman, NAPE’s Advisory Council, described the 50th anniversary as a symbolic milestone for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The former President of NAPE said currently it has over 18,000 members, including 10,000 student professionals, with active efforts to grow its base further.
He told young professionals to remain committed to the association’s vision because they are the future and over the next 50 years, they will take up the baton to lead and transform the association to greater heights.
NAPE has fifty-eight active student chapters across the country and the number swells.
Fifty awards were presented across various categories in the oil and gas sector during the ceremony.
The President of NAPE said at a retreat in Abuja that decision was reached that and a committee was set up.
“When we were setting up this committee, we were in dilemma and the exco did not interfere, it was independent.”
Uche thanked the BoT, Advisory Council, and the Golden Jubilee Committee for their roles in the 50th anniversary.
The President Elect (PE) Olajumoke Ajayi, also thanked the guests and members who graced the event of the association for their support.
Speaking at the event, she added that “your footsteps brace the trail because it is what you have done that we are following. Thank you very much for all you’ve done for the association, our founding fathers, past presidents, members of the BoT, all the excos, students, young professionals, and all those who are online watching.
“We thank you and believe that you will continue to make yourself available for anything that has to do with NAPE.”
The PE also reminded the guests of NAPE annual conference which commences from 10th to 13th November later in the year.
