Michael Imoudu Labour Institute Honours Mele Kyari

Mallam Mele Kyari, GCEO NNPCL

The Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) has announced the nomination of the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mallam Mele Kyari, for the award of its prestigious Fellowship as part of activities to mark the institute’s 40th anniversary.

A nomination letter signed by the Director-General Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, Mr. Issa Aremu, states that the NNPC Ltd’s helmsman was being honoured for promoting “Decent Work Agenda through the security of jobs.”

It will be recalled that in the lead-up to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, the GCEO through labour-friendly initiatives at the NNPC Ltd, managed the very delicate labour issues without a single job loss which endeared him to many of the company’s staff, the in-house labour unions and the entire oil and gas industry.

The award will be presented during the institute’s 40th Anniversary Lecture programme which will hold at 10am, Tuesday, 9th May, 2023, at the Institute’s auditorium in Ilorin, Kwara State.
