Mr. James Okereke and Johnbosco Uche, President of NAPE
The Chairman and Managing Director, Chevron Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Jim Swartz, spoke at the Management Session of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) annual conference in Lagos that in terms of human capital development, the company has done a lot having been in the country for over 60 years. Swartz was represented by James Okereke at the Management Session titled “Driving Operational Efficiency and Human Capital Develoment in the Oil and Gas Sector towards Economic Advancement. It is about structured mentorship.
Concerning new projects in the industry which will be run and managed by people, it is important for operators, producers and regulators to be intentional about technical trainings and partnership with institutions that are available in the country.
This has to do with the universities and colleges upgrading them to digital platforms. “We need to leverage technology in our human capital development because operational excellence and all the other things that we do will not bring the results.”
Swartz believed that the industry will grow and succeed if only it has the right human capital development which is required.
