Asiko Energy Holdings Limited has completed its LPG and Propane Terminal in Ijora, Lagos, marking a significant addition to infrastructure for the storage and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and propane in Nigeria.

The terminal was commissioned at a ceremony attended by government officials, industry stakeholders, financiers, technical advisers and other partners involved in the development of the facility.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Asiko Energy Holdings Limited, Engr. Alex Ogedegbe, said the completion of the terminal represented the transition of the project from conception to reality through investment, partnership and collaboration.

Ogedegbe expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) for their support of the project.

He also commended the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and other government agencies for providing regulatory guidance and cooperation throughout the development process.

According to him, the terminal was developed to provide reliable, safe and efficient infrastructure for the storage and distribution of LPG and propane, with the aim of improving energy access for households, businesses and industries.

The facility, located in Ijora, Lagos, is a fully mounded terminal designed with emphasis on safety, operational integrity and international standards. Project information places its LPG and propane storage capacity at approximately 5,000 metric tonnes.

The Asiko chairman said the project formed part of the broader effort to strengthen Nigeria’s gas infrastructure and increase domestic gas utilisation.

He noted that government-backed interventions such as the MDGIF were important in encouraging private-sector investment in critical midstream and downstream gas infrastructure.

“Today, we are not merely opening a terminal. We are opening another chapter in Nigeria’s gas story”

Ogedegbe described the chapter as one defined by partnership, investment and infrastructure.

He added that Nigeria’s abundant gas resources could generate greater value for citizens when supported by adequate infrastructure and investment.

Ogedegbe also thanked the project’s financiers, technical advisers, engineers, contractors, vendors and professional consultants for their contributions, while commending the management and staff of Asiko Energy Holdings for their resilience and commitment.

The completion of the terminal comes amid increasing efforts to expand domestic LPG utilisation and develop infrastructure capable of supporting Nigeria’s energy needs.

Ogedegbe expressed hope that the facility would operate safely and efficiently for many years and contribute to a stronger and more energy-secure Nigeria.
