Emphasis on operational excellence is a mindset and culture built within an organization and this is what Aradel Holdings, one of Nigeria’s indigenous oil companies is known for.

At the Management Session of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) Annual Conference held in Lagos, Rita Olarewaju stated clearly that the culture is part of its delivery to excellence.

The theme of the Management Session is: “Driving Operational Efficiency and Human Capital in the Oil and Gas Sector towards Economic Advancement.”

Rita Olarewaju represented Adegbite Falade, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Aradel Holdings Plc.

Olarewaju disclosed that the revered independent oil company recently clocked 20 years of continuous production from its maiden field of Ogbele.

The monumental achievements of Aradel were attained by its indigenous workforce who manage and produce the field by building on their learning experiences.

“What has been key to us is the type of company and what kind of value do we want to demonstrate with heart of excellence.”

Olarewaju made it known that the company’s values travel in terms of accountability, “the organization having clear line of sight around who is accountable for what and who does what, adaptability, resilience, diversity, excellence and leadership and how we pull all of that together to get work done.”

The frontline leaders of Aradel know the authority and right decisions in building right mindset and value orientation. They are thinking about what really constitutes value for the business.

“What are the things that we really need to impact? Having innovation teams and how can we make things faster? Where do we get improved?”

Aradel emphasises on digitalization. The company commenced its digitalization journey making sure frontline teams can get involved in improving the system.

The indigenous oil company thinks the way digitalization is delivered ensuring that its talents are working on the right direction. Aradel enhances and deploys early career development program making sure workers have the right experiences and support in work delivery.

Olarewaju added that the frontline for the indigenous giant is having right authority with courage to make good decisions knowing workers are free to innovate with support and the organization will reward mindset of delivering value of excellence.

To make the future ready, the General Manager of Aradel submitted that technology and Artificial Intelligence are the new order of acceleration.

The industry should look for flexible way to get services deployed and problems solved with increase collaboration and integration having the right mindsets and values.

Olarewaju advised the industry to look at the right skill sets that are required.

“We need to prepare leaders to focus on sustainability with long term productivity and development being aware of the impact of the environment and technology.”

She said renewable has taken attention and nobody knows the advancement of technology that might likely come in the next forty years. The industry should leverage on these innovations to prepare organisations and the people for possible changes that exist.

Technical skills are important in terms of positioning for the future.
