The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has said access in the oil and gas industry must go beyond asset ownership to ensure services and technology that keep assets running are delivered by capable Nigerian companies.
Speaking through its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Joan Faluyi at the 2026 NAEC Energy Conference in Lagos, the association said as indigenous operators take on more assets, indigenous service companies should be empowered to handle the operations.
“Our members bring the technical expertise and field experience to do this, creating jobs and retaining value in Nigeria. With the right investment and enabling environment, they can take on larger and more complex scopes,” Faluyi said.
She commended the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) for keeping energy issues in public discourse and for bringing policymakers, operators and service providers together, expressing hope that deliberations would produce practical commitments to strengthen indigenous participation across the value chain.
Faluyi also celebrated recipients of the NAEC Industry Awards and urged participants to turn access into opportunity for lasting progress in Nigeria’s energy industry.
