The downstream petroleum, gas and energy value chain will converge in Lagos from 26th to 31st of October for the 2025 edition of the Oil Trading Logistics (OTL), Africa Downstream. The event is organised in collaboration with the Nigerian Midstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and other strategic partners.

Speaking at a media parley, Chairman of OTL Africa Downstream Week Advisory Board, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji made it known to journalists that the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week encompasses end-to-end operations and services in midstream and downstream business, incorporating a strategic conference, showcase exhibition and networking events.

According to the OTL Chairman, the event has over the last 19 years, set agenda for downstream sector development not only in Nigeria, but across West Africa and the wider Africa region.

He added that yearly, stakeholders come from far and near to rub minds, interact and deepen relationships that drive business and the market as a whole.

Policy and executive action equally rely on this event for crucial insights on which to anchor their engagements with the industry, Oyebanji stated.

The OTL Chairman pointed out that in Nigeria, there is no doubt that the year has been one of action, tension and intervention by the range of players.

“The deregulated market which we valiantly advocated for many years is now upon us, and all interested parties are still trying to achieve balance and equilibrium in the new regime. While this has come with controversy, we believe that the market will achieve balance in the very near future.”

Oyebanji was of the view that the 2025 OTL is appropriately themed ‘Energy Sustainability- Growth Beyond Boundaries and Competition.’ In recognition of the rapidly evolving downstream petroleum landscape, this has competition taking centre-stage.

OTL 2025 will feature high-level engagement on regulatory collaboration, including ministerial and regulator panels involving five West African countries.

The OTL Chairman disclosed that more than sixty speakers will, across ten strategic sessions, provide insight into market trends, innovations, opportunities and targets, with anchor themes focused on strategic investment, finance, technology and corporate realignment.

As the continent’s premier showcase platform for downstream energy, Oyebanji said delegates and visitors are expected to experience a showcase of innovations servicing and technology at OTL trade exhibition.

Other focused areas include oil refining, petroleum products trading, shipping, tank storage, logistics marketing and retail, in addition to LPG, lubricants, petrochemicals, power, financial services and policy.

This year’s OTL also offer memorable visits to production hubs, including the Dangote Refinery complex while other exciting highlights include a range of networking sessions.

Oyebanji stated further that OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week has over the past eighteen years, redefined the downstream energy market indelibly, staying at the forefront of setting agenda, promoting business and operations.

Responding to questions from journalists at the media parley, the OTL Chairman explained that disruptions experienced in the downstream sector was due to change in the industry hence the statusquo cannot be maintained.

This is momentary as the downstream as the downstream will soon get its balance.

The CEO of OTL Development in Africa, Mrs. Joyce Akabogu pointed out that over 40 exhibitors will be at this year’s event to showcase new innovations and technology in the industry.
