The true measure of progress lies not only in the oil and gas the country produced, but in the lives improved, opportunities created and lasting value to deliver to communities.

Heirs Energies believes that responsible energy development means improving how to operate making better use of resources, protecting the people and contributing to the development of host communities.

The company is delighted to mark World Sustainability Day highlighting work underway across four key areas of its business.

 Purpose | Delivering Energy Responsibly
Heirs approach to Brownfield Excellence is focused on improving asset performance, optimising production and unlocking greater value from existing resources.

In December 2025, the NNPC/Heirs Energies OML 17 Joint Venture signed Gas Flare Commercialisation Agreements with five approved flare gas offtakers under the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP) and approved non-NGFCP frameworks. The agreements provide a pathway to commercialise flare gas for productive applications, promoting resource efficiency and environmental stewardship.

Planet | Protecting Our Environment

Heirs environmental responsibility extends beyond its production operations. Through the Agbada Green Corridor Initiative, launched in June 2026, Heirs Energies is transforming approximately 1 km of the Agbada Non-Associated Gas Corridor in Omuohia, Rivers State, through tree planting and environmental restoration.

Implemented in partnership with the Rivers State Ministry of Environment and SHERDA, with support from the OML 17 HCDT and community stakeholders, the initiative has established 452 trees across six species, with an estimated annual carbon-sequestration potential of 5.4 tonnes of CO₂e.

People | Creating Opportunities and Protecting Lives

Through the NNPC/Heirs Energies OML 17 Joint Venture and the HCDT, we support development initiatives across 80 host communities in Rivers State, spanning education, healthcare and essential community infrastructure.

“Protecting lives also begins with how we work. In September 2026, Heirs Energies achieved 11.9 million Lost Time Injury-free man-hours, marking more than five years without a Lost Time Injury. Our principle, “Everyone is a Safety Officer,” reinforces the shared responsibility of keeping our workplaces safe and preventing incidents.”

Performance and Accountability | Sustaining Progress

Sustainability also demands that business is built capable of delivering responsibly and consistently over the long term.

For Heirs Energies, this means strengthening operational reliability, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing risks effectively and ensuring that responsible business practices underpin its decisions.

Through continued investment in OML 17, we are focused on optimising asset performance, strengthening domestic energy supply and contributing to Nigeria’s energy security and economic development.

Our commitment is to ensure that operational progress is matched by responsible governance and enduring value for our stakeholders.

Company’s Commitment

These priorities are connected by a common purpose: to build an African energy business whose success creates meaningful economic, environmental and social value.

They also reflect the company’s belief in Africapitalism, the philosophy championed by Group Chair, Tony Elumelu, that responsible private sector investment should deliver both commercial success and lasting social impact.

On World Sustainability Day, Heirs Energies reaffirm our commitment to developing Africa’s energy resources responsibly, protecting the environment, investing in our people and communities, and contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future.
