Managing Director of the Nigerian Liquefied and Natural Gas (NLNG), Leye Falade has crossed 90-day in office as the gas company’s Chief Executive
According to Falade: “My focus during this period has been on strengthening governance, sharpening execution, reinforcing our safety culture, engaging our people, and building a leadership team united by a shared purpose.”
Continuing, he said, “Beyond our operations, I have deliberately invested time in engaging those whose partnership is essential to NLNG’s long-term success. I had the privilege of meeting with government leaders, regulators, security agencies, industry partners, our Board, host communities and traditional institutions to deepen relationships and reinforce our shared commitment to Nigeria’s energy future.”
These engagements reaffirmed NLNG’s role as more than an LNG producer. They affirmed the Company as a strategic national asset and a trusted partner in advancing domestic gas development, energy transition, economic diplomacy and Nigeria’s broader industrial aspirations.
He added that from engagements with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, to continued dialogue with host communities and traditional leadership, one message has remained constant: sustainable progress is built on collaboration, trust and shared purpose.
Falade believed that safety has remained the heart of everything the company does.
“Throughout this period, we continued to reinforce Goal Zero as a leadership responsibility and renewed our collective commitment during our annual HSE Week to learn, improve and strengthen the behaviours that keep our people, our assets and our communities safe. Safety is not simply a value we uphold. It is fundamental to how we lead and how we deliver.”
“I am grateful to our employees for their commitment, our Board for its guidance, our shareholders for their confidence, and our host communities, government, regulators, customers and industry partners for their continued trust and collaboration.”
The NLNG helmsman pointed out that the first 90 days were about setting direction and building momentum. The next phase is about delivering measurable outcomes—safely, consistently and with excellence—while creating lasting value for stakeholders and for Nigeria.
He appreciated everyone who has been part of the journey of success. “We are laying a strong foundation, and I look forward to our building on it together.”
