Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Commends Police Efforts in Reducing Crime

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has commended the Commissioner of Police, Kano state Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori for his efforts in reducing thuggery, other crimes across the state and timely arrest of the suspects that killed a housewife and her six children.

The governor who was on courtesy call to the Commissioner of Police at the Command’s Headquarters, Bompai Kano, today 21st, January, 2026 revealed that he was delighted by the turn of events and assured CP. Bakori of his government’s support to erase crimes and criminalities in all the nooks and crannies of the State.

Governor Yusuf explained: “when I heard of the ugly incident I put a call through to you and advised you to ensure the arrest of the suspects within 12 hours but to my surprise, you were able to arrest them within 6 hours! You even linked me with the suspects, and the husband and father of the victims.”

Governor Yusuf told CP Bakori that he had the opportunity to meet the president, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and informed him of the gallant efforts of the Police in arresting the suspects and the President was happy. He urged the CP and his team to sustain the tempo with renewed efforts.

The Governor further stated “I am the happiest person today, because since my swearing in after 2023 election, I haven’t had the opportunity to visit the Command, today here I am along with my entourage – comprising the Speaker, the Commissioners and Special Advisers. I am purposely here to strengthen mutual cooperation and understanding, more especially, between the Kano State Government and the Police Command under your leadership.”

The governor revealed that his major challenge, when he came in as governor in 2023 was the issue of insecurity especially thuggery, banditry, kidnapping, and others which have reduced to a minimum as at today. He stressed that, Kano as the most populous state in the country, should be a peaceful state for all. And that the issue of thuggery has reduced by 70% under the CP Bakori. He  pointed out that Political differences should not create divisiveness especially in the issue of security.

Governor Yusuf said: “I’m here to give you moral support for the people of Kano to know your efforts. It is not easy for you to achieve all these with the limited personnel and apparatus. I’m here to purposely thank you and assure you of our full support. You’ll see changes in terms of the support coming to you. I must also commend you and your disciples.”

In his remark, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, stated:

“Your Excellency, your coming to the Command is a testimony of your love for the Nigeria Police Force, and is second to none. Since my assumption of duty, your support and fatherly advice made it possible for me to get to this level of success in crime fighting. We are succeeding because of your cooperation. The Community Policing in Kano is incomparable to others. We frequently get information from the people of the State. Your coming to the Police Command today is a moral booster to us. We pray for your success and we thank you for this historical visit, your Excellency, Sir.”
