Offokansi says SEEPCO Dedicated to ESG, Reduces Carbon Footprint

-Felix Douglas

Dr Chris Offokansi, Head, Industrial Relations and Resources of SEEPCO said during his goodwill message at National Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC) that the oil and company has taken bold, measurable and verifiable steps to advance environmental stewardship and reduce its carbon footprint. Over 90% of its vehicle and equipment fleet now run on natural gas, contributing to a 25% reduction in overall emissions.

The company has upgraded its barges to better safeguard Nigeria’s waterways and expanded its green initiatives – from comprehensive waste management and water conservation programmes to the planting of more than 10,000 trees across our host communities. These milestones are not just statistics; they represent our unwavering commitment to sustainable growth and responsible first-class energy provider.

SEEPCO measures success not only by growth but also by the positive impact it creates for people, communities, and the environment. The company’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond compliance; it is about responsibility, measurable progress, and shaping a sustainable future.

“As Head of Human Resources & Industrial Relations, I am focused on ensuring that our people thrive, our host communities feel valued, and our operations remain aligned with the highest environmental and social standards.”

SEEPCO believes progress must go hand-in-hand with protecting human rights, advancing inclusion, and working transparently with regulators and stakeholders. The company remains dedicated to embedding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and positives into everything it does.

The company expresses profound gratitude to National Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC) and the distinguished panel for providing an opportunity to participate in Annual Conference of NAEC.

“We look forward to support and collaboration toward responsible energy production and ESG excellence. While we celebrate this day, we do not view it as a finish line but as motivation to go even further – to deepen our impact, strengthen our partnerships, and continue driving sustainable innovation across Nigeria’s energy landscape.”
