Prof. Wumi Iledare

-Felix Douglas

The 14th edition of Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah Legacy Lecture Series was held at Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt. The annual gathering is empowered by Emmanuel Egbogah Foundation (EEF).

In his closing remarks, Prof. Wumi Iledare, made it known that corporate social investment cannot be undermined for the academia because without it, there’s no intergenerational connection.

Speaking further, he revealed that the best oil company in Nigeria is Shell Development Company. It is a capacity building company and nearly all those who are key players in the oil and gas industry at present in Nigeria, went through capacity development, and he encouraged Renaissance to continue in the same feat.

He commended Prof. Joseph Ajeinka, for creating innovative ideas and convinced him to come to Nigeria ten years ago.

He thanked those corporate organizations that have being supporting EEF unrelenting their stance for the foundation since its inception.

“There’s no regret making the choice of coming to Nigeria hence prosperity without posterity is inconsequential, and that’s what Dr. Egbogah stood for and that’s why we will continue to ignite the fire, it will not die, because he invested in building the future.

According to the Professor of Energy Economics, there’s a difference between being a transactional leader and a transformational one. A transformational leader is more concerned about the future.

Referring to Prof. Joseph Ajeinka for supporting the EEF vision for many years, he said, “If there’s anything that really gladdens my heart today is to call you emeritus Professor of Petroleum Engineering.” He appreciated old and new sponsors of the foundation particularly for sponsoring and exposing university graduates and students for greater opportunities.

On his part at the event, Dr. Emeka Egbogah who joined virtually was delighted to hear all the keynote speakers and “it’s been invigorating and insightful conversation around the progress of oil and gas in Nigeria.”

He thanked the organizers for their time, energy and passion towards the 14th lecture series to continue the legacy of Dr Egbogah. They have been instrumental in continuing the vision and perseverance that Egbogah started many years ago through his journey in the oil and gas industry.

Dr. Egbogah jr acknowledged the progressive efforts and tremendous job over the years since inception of the legacy series.
