NIPCO Gas Ltd: A Leader in Nigeria’s Gas Sector

The Chairman of the Editorial Board of Energy Times, Yakubu Lawal, has highlighted the significant contributions of NIPCO Gas Ltd to Nigeria’s gas sector. According to Lawal, NIPCO Gas Ltd’s numerous achievements and milestones demonstrate its commitment to developing the country’s gas industry.

Some of the key landmarks of NIPCO Gas Ltd include:

– Four Gas Distribution Licenses (GDLs)*: NIPCO Gas Ltd is the only indigenous company in Nigeria to be awarded four GDLs from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.

-Exclusive Development and Distribution Rights*: The GDLs provide NIPCO Gas Ltd with 25 years of exclusivity to develop and distribute natural gas in key areas, including Ibadan, Ibafo, Lekki Free Trade Zone, and Benin City.

– Expanding Natural Gas Pipeline Network: NIPCO Gas Ltd is expanding its natural gas pipeline network in partnership with Nigerian Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) to provide indigenous natural gas access to industries and power plants.

– CNG Stations and Vehicle Conversions: The company has 22 operational CNG stations nationwide, serving over 25,000 vehicles, and has converted over 15,000 vehicles to CNG through its five CNG conversion workshop

The Managing Director of NIPCO Gas Ltd, Nagendra Verma, expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition as the Most Integrated Gas Company of the Year. He stated that the award is a testament to the company’s enormous contributions to the gas sector.

“We are proud to be leading the way in compliance and natural gas distribution in Nigeria,” Verma said. “Our commitment to providing affordable and eco-friendly fuel solutions like CNG, PNG, and AutoCNG across 24 states is driven by our desire to ensure fuel savings and less maintenance for our customers.”

Verma also commended the efforts of the company’s team and partners, including NGML and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and for their support and collaboration. Also worthy of commendation for the exemplary role of the company in the gas sector ,the MD informed is Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority ( NMDPRA )

He noted that the numerous achievements and milestones demonstrate its commitment to developing Nigeria’s gas sector stressing that the company’s expansion of its natural gas pipeline network, CNG stations, and vehicle conversions are significant steps towards promoting the use of natural gas as an alternative fuel source in the country
