Erika Achum CEO, VivaJets
VivaJets, business aviation firm and subsidiary of Falcon Aerospace Limited, says it is scaling up its capacity to provide mobility support for oil & gas firms, and other relevant players in Africa’s energy sector.
As investments in Africa’s oil and gas sector accelerate, driven by offshore exploration, gas initiatives, and major energy infrastructure projects, efficient and agile mobility has become essential. VivaJets is positioning itself to provide this critical service and has intensified its engagement with key industry players through events such as the recently-held Africa Energy Week (AEW) where VivaJets was a key partner for the second time.
At the 2026 AEW in Cape Town, VivaJets Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Erika Achum, joined an elite lineup of global business leaders and energy stakeholders as a featured speaker during panel discussions. Through this, the company aims to further strengthen its commitment to Africa’s energy sector and its growing role as a critical mobility facilitator for the continent’s oil and gas industry.
“Seamless cross-border mobility is vital to unlocking Africa’s full energy potential,” said Erika Achum. “As trade and investment accelerate under frameworks like the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), business aviation is serving as the connective tissue linking major energy basins, financial capitals, and project sites, often overcoming barriers limiting commercial aviation.”
“This is why VivaJets’ has increasingly positioned business aviation as essential infrastructure than simply a premium travel service. “Our partnership with the Africa Energy Week underscores our increasing role as a strategic partner to the sector, providing the speed, access, and flexibility required to turn complex deals into operational realities,” Achum added.
VivaJets’ international engagements reflect its rapid transformation into one of Africa’s fastest-growing aviation enterprises, with significant international expansion, partnerships, and investments in the last three years. Beyond its primary headquarters in Nigeria, VivaJets is establishing operational bases across strategic regional corridors. Its fleet has also grown remarkably, alongside international partnerships and investments such the joint venture project with Flybird Aviation to start Aruba-based Orient Jets and a $10 million credit investment from London-based TLG Capital.
According to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Tejumade Salami, the energy sector operates in complex, time-sensitive environments where reliability and reach are paramount.
“At VivaJets, we are increasing our capacity and developing services specifically designed to support the demanding logistics of oil, gas, and renewable energy projects across Africa and beyond. As VivaJets expands its fleet and regional hubs, our focus remains on delivering safe, flexible, and seamless air mobility for every stakeholder driving Africa’s energy future.”
Beyond its growth and expansion, VivaJets has also stepped-up advocacy for the removal of barriers to free aviation across the continent; an important factor for cross-border energy operations. In May 2026 at the Africa CEO Forum (ACF), in Kigali, Rwanda, CEO, Erika Achum challenged African leaders to move from high-level commitments to real life implementation to unlock economic connectivity across the continent.
