Sunbeth Energies Limited has unveiled Nigeria’s first self-service fuel station at its Ogba outlet in Lagos, introducing a digital fueling experience that enables customers to initiate, monitor, and complete fuel purchases independently through a secure, user-friendly platform. The launch represents a major milestone in the modernization of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry and reinforces Sunbeth Energies’ position as a leader in digital innovation, operational transparency, and customer-centric service delivery.
For decades, fuel purchases in Nigeria have relied on traditional attendant-operated dispensing, offering customers limited visibility into the fueling process. Concerns about dispensing accuracy and transaction transparency have remained persistent across the industry. Sunbeth Energies’ self-service platform transforms that experience by placing customers in complete control of every transaction. From initiating a purchase to monitoring litres dispensed and confirming the final payment, users can track every stage of the fueling process in real time from the interactive customer interface, delivering a new level of confidence, accountability, and convenience.
The innovative solution was designed and implemented in partnership with Tech Brokers Limited, a Nigerian technology company specializing in digital transformation and enterprise technology solutions. The platform combines intelligent forecourt automation with secure payment integration, creating a flexible architecture capable of operating across multiple payment platforms and forecourt technologies while delivering a seamless customer experience.
“Today is a defining moment not only for Sunbeth Energies but also for Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry,” said Lateef Abioye, Managing Director of Sunbeth Energies Limited. “By launching Nigeria’s first self-service fuel station, we are introducing a new standard of transparency, convenience, and customer empowerment. Every customer deserves to know exactly what they are paying for, and this innovation gives them that confidence.”
He continued:
“What makes this achievement even more significant is that it is a Nigerian innovation. Working with Tech Brokers Limited, we have demonstrated that world-class technology can be conceived, designed, and deployed locally to solve real industry challenges. We are proud to be leading a transformation that will redefine how Nigerians purchase fuel.”
According to Abioye, the Ogba deployment marks the beginning of a broader digital transformation strategy that will be extended across Sunbeth Energies’ retail network. “This is only the first step. We are committed to building intelligent, connected forecourts that combine digital payments, automation, data-driven insights, and superior customer experience. Our ambition is to set a new industry standard for how energy products are delivered in Nigeria.”
Speaking on the technology behind the innovation, Wasiu Popoola, Chief Executive Officer of Tech Brokers Limited, described the launch as the beginning of customer centric digital transformation in the Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas industry.
“Today marks the beginning of a new dawn for fuel retailing in Nigeria. This is more than a self-service solution; it is a robust indigenous technology platform developed to support the future of the downstream sector. The architecture is deliberately designed to accommodate virtually every payment rail and forecourt technology available today, while remaining flexible enough to integrate future innovations as the industry evolves.”
“We commend the management of Sunbeth Energies for their foresight, courage, and technological maturity in partnering with us to bring this groundbreaking solution to life. It takes visionary leadership to embrace transformative innovation, and Sunbeth has demonstrated exactly that. Together, we have shown that world-class technology can be conceived, designed, and delivered by Nigerian companies to solve Nigerian challenges.”
One of the first customers to use the new system described the experience as both reassuring and refreshingly simple.
“I have never experienced anything like this at a fuel station in Nigeria. Being able to control the entire process myself and watch every litre being dispensed gave me complete confidence. It was easy to use, fast, and transparent.”
To ensure a smooth transition, trained customer experience personnel are available at the Ogba station to guide users through the self-service process and provide assistance whenever required.
