NIPCO Gas Ltd has once again set the benchmark in Nigeria’s gas sector, receiving the Gas Infrastructure Leadership Award from Energy Times for its role in building critical infrastructure and advancing the nation’s energy transition.
Energy Times is a renowned industry based newspaper with wide readership and huge subscriber base across the country.
The honour celebrates NIPCO Gas’s pioneering investments since 2009 as a first mover in marketing natural gas for automobiles and industrial machinery. The award specifically cited the company’s NMDPRA gas distribution licenses for key economic zones including Ibadan, Abeokuta, Lekki etc , which have unlocked gas access for homes and industries.
According to the citation read by Energy Times Editorial Board Chairman, Mallam Yakubu Lawal, NIPCO Gas’s leadership is evident in its vast network of operational CNG stations and twenty more under construction via its JV with NGML. The company’s pipeline network has become a critical enabler for businesses seeking to reduce energy costs and carbon footprints.
Lawal Taofeek, Group Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, who received the award on behalf of MD/CEO Nagendra Verma, described the recognition as a major boost. “This is the third consecutive honour from Energy Times.
It affirms our commitment and leadership among peers,” he said, promising further investment to deepen gas penetration nationwide.
As natural gas remains Nigeria’s transition fuel of choice, NIPCO Gas Ltd’s infrastructure continues to drive industrial competitiveness and support national goals on emissions reduction and energy security.
It will be recalled that as part of growing gas marketing and utilisation across the country, NIPCO Gas Ltd recently inaugurated two CNG stations in Benin and Warri in Delta State to the delight of motorist in and around the state.
